Angela Lawson was elected to the Aurora City Council in 2015. She was re-elected for a second term in 2019 and a third term this November. In 2017, she was appointed to serve as the Mayor Pro Tem until 2018, and she worked in the Colorado State Government for fourteen years in areas of lobbying regulation and government affairs and has and continues to serve on numerous local, regional, and national boards.
Nationally, she currently serves on the National League of Cities Community & Economic Development Committee. Regionally, she is a board member of the Denver Regional Council of Governments and a member of the Adams County Regional Transportation Committee, Aurora Economic Development Council, and Colorado Municipal League.
Council Member Lawson’s experience in public policy and legislative affairs has allowed her to serve as the Chair of the Federal and Intergovernmental Relations Committee in Aurora for six years. In her years of service as a city council member, she has been very involved in civic engagement, youth violence initiatives, and policy and legislative affairs.
