Commissioner Mary Ann Borgeson was first elected to the Douglas County, Neb. Board of Commissioners in 1994. She was re-elected to her 7th term in 2018.

In 1997, Commissioner Borgeson was the first woman elected to serve as chairwoman of the Douglas County Board and has served in this capacity for numerous years.

She currently serves as Immediate Past President of the National Association of Counties (NACo). She is the first woman from Nebraska to hold this position.

Commissioner Borgeson has served as chair of the NACo Health Policy and Cyber Security Committees and vice chair of the Large Urban County Caucus, Healthy Counties Board and Health Committee. She has also served on NACo’s International Economic Development Task Force, Arts and Culture Commission, Membership Committee and Programs and Services Committee. Commissioner Borgeson is a past president of Women of NACo.
