Building Equity in Parks and Recreation

This webinar explores how parks and recreation systems can be transformed by using an equity lens. In Minnesota, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has used equity to decide how resources and improvements are made. MPRB Superintendent Jayne Miller will discuss matrixes and the racial equity action plan the system uses. Nationally, the National Recreation and Park Association has made social equity a focus, with the goal of ensuring everyone can access available parks and recreation systems. Allison Colman, a program manager at the National Recreation and Park Association, will share examples from across the nation of how cities are reaching underserved and vulnerable populations through programming and services and promoting healthy lifestyles.
