This year’s 20 finalist communities have demonstrated exceptional civic capital and a commitment to strengthening environmental sustainability through inclusive community engagement. These cities and regions are being recognized for their ability to bring people together, create positive change, and build thriving, resilient communities.
Finalists were selected through a rigorous review process led by an external committee of experts. Each application was evaluated across six key criteria:
Now, these inspiring communities are preparing for the next stage of the competition—the All-America City Award Event in Denver this June, where they will present their stories of success and impact.
The All-America City Award event is an awards ceremony and networking event unlike any other! Through concrete examples, interactive discussions, and finalist presentations – you will walk away with the knowledge, skills, contacts, and inspiration you need to better strengthen your community.
The award, typically given to 10 communities each year, celebrates and recognizes neighborhoods, villages, towns, cities, counties, tribes and regions that engage residents in innovative, inclusive and effective efforts to tackle critical challenges.
“Communities thrive when all residents are active and engaged in the policies and decisions that shape their lives. These finalists are breaking down barriers to meaningful participation and enacting programs that are creating sustainable and resilient communities.”
– The National Civic League’s President, Doug Linkhart
Communities have found civic strength and growth as a result of winning the award and gain a better understanding of civic excellence through the year-long application process. In applying communities reflect on their strengths, weaknesses, challenges and the progress they have made.
