Civic health matters! Strong, ongoing connections between residents, robust relationships between people and public institutions, and positive attachments between community members and the places they live are essential for all kinds of positive outcomes, from better physical health to higher employment rates to better resilience in the face of natural disasters. Strengthening civic health goes hand-in-hand with reducing polarization, overcoming inequities, and solving all kinds of public problems.

How can we strengthen civic health? The new Colorado Civic Health Action Guide lays out a whole range of ideas and examples that have been proven to work in communities in Colorado and across the country. This highly interactive workshop will introduce the guide, provide the context for civic health, lay out the different categories and cases, describe tools for measuring civic health, and bring people together from around the region to discuss civic matters and decide for themselves what kinds of civic health strategies might be right for their community.
