How do we solve the crisis of trust? A new nonprofit has a 10-year, $1 billion answer.

“Trust is like the air we breathe – when it’s present, nobody really notices. When it’s absent, everybody notices.” -Warren Buffett

Buffett’s words have never been more true. Trust is the enabling attribute that allows our economics and societies to flourish, and its absence is now noticeable everywhere.

To confront this foundational erosion, a new nonprofit is launching an ambitious social initiative:  $1 Billion for Trust.

$1B for Trust is embarking on a 10-year mission to rebuild trust in three critical areas: trust in information, trust in each other, and trust in institutions.

The goal is audacious: to help create a rich and diverse ecosystem that catalyzes $1 billion annually to fund new solutions that strengthen trust. It’s about building a dedicated infrastructure of capital, startups, and media for trust, an ecosystem that exists for other vital industries but is critically absent here.

The journey starts by building a broad-tent community—with a goal of reaching more than 9 million Americans across ideologies—and listening deeply. The first step is gathering data on how people feel about trust through a survey launched in partnership with Activote.

This is about more than a survey; it’s about building the tools, communities, and culture that can restore trust in America—together. What part will you play?
