On June 22nd in Denver, the League will host a one-day conference with a focus on building community to achieve equity.
The conference will promote expansive civic engagement, innovation and collaboration as the best strategies for cities to make progress on complex issues like health, education, and relations between community and police. Featured speakers include Senator Fred Harris, Dr. Jandel-Allen Davis and Professor Manual Pastor. Prof. Pastor recently co-authored Is Talk Cheap? Dialogue, Diversity and Our Economic Future in the League’s National Civic Review. Outlining research from the International Monetary Fund and Federal Reserve connecting economic equity as an important factor for regional economic growth, Pastor provides concrete examples and actions to use collaboration and community conversations to promote equity and economic growth.
