Description of Job
The intern will support League operations by assisting with virtual event planning for meetings and conferences, conducting research, producing written materials, helping with administrative tasks and related activities. Some of the activities to be supported include our annual All-America City Awards program, National Civic Review publication, monthly e-newsletter, website, and social media postings.
The intern will report to the All-America City Award and Communications Program Director. Some of the responsibilities include:
- Curate and schedule social media content
- Assist with producing, editing, and designing monthly e-newsletters
- Support virtual event planning, design, and production for the 2022 All-America City Awards and Conference
- Coordinate the management of all event details such as registration, marketing, technology, communications, etc.
- Write and summarize content for use in League publications, website, and social media platforms
- Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the day of the event
Employment Information
This position pays $15.87 per hour and will run from February-July. The position is part-time, temporary, non-exempt, at-will, with no employee benefits. The successful candidate in this position will: be willing to submit to and able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
Skills and Qualifications
At least two years of a four-year degree program completed, preferably in a field related to communications/marketing, event planning, public policy or political science. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with good copy-editing skills. Social media and virtual event experience are a plus.
