Tar River Community Band

Established by the Pitt County Community Schools and Recreation Department in 1987, the Tar River Community Band provides an opportunity for adults who played an instrument in high school or college to continue playing in a band. From doctors, lawyers and teachers to housewives, retirees, scientists and many other professions, members aged 18 to 75 plus enjoy the physical, social and mental benefits of playing in the Band. The group opens the community- wide Sunday in the Park series, as well as performs for veterans’ celebrations, municipal events, long term care residents, and numerous other community events. In addition to the benefits for members, the Band is a source of pride and enjoyment for citizens that attend performances and follow concerts throughout the year. Through membership and audiences, the Community Band is truly inclusive with age, race and cultural diversity. Please enjoy the music of “Highlights from Harry Potter” arranged by Michael story.
